luke’s adoption finalization

We were super excited to get Luke’s adoption finalized last week. Our final post-placement report was reviewed and we affirmed that we would care for Luke “just as if he had been born to us.”

The judge talked about how lucky Luke is to have parents like us. We don’t take it for granted how blessed we are to have him for a son. God gives his kids good gifts.

Our judge was great – she joked around, let Luke hold her gavel, and even had cookies for all the kids.

We were blessed to have lots of family and friends join us for the occasion… even if the guest of honor took a few naps throughout the festivities. 🙂

While we are happy that his adoption is now finalized, we weren’t super worried –  if adoption teaches you anything, it’s patience and trust. And Luke’s birth parents were sure of their decision to make him a part of our family. We love and respect them, and would be happy to have them be a part of Luke’s life.

Adoption is beautiful. I am so thankful God chose this journey for our family.

  1. I did not think the two of you could look any more joyful than you did in that first family photo right after Luke was born, but I was wrong. If anything, your smiles are even bigger now. You’re right: God delights to give good gifts to His children, and Luke is one of the best!
